Built for hands-on Australian businesses

You're good at the work. We'll sort the business side.

Company, ABN, GST, licences, a website and a plan that makes sense — set up properly, explained in plain English, minus the paperwork headache.

Plain English · Fixed-price proposals · One point of contact

What we set up

Everything you need to start right.

The company, registrations, licences and basics that let you quote, invoice and get paid properly — and not get caught out down the track. Handled as one job, not eight separate headaches.

01

Company & registrations

We register your company with ASIC and sort your ACN, ABN, TFN and GST — so you can invoice properly and get paid from day one.

02

The right structure

Sole trader, company or trust? We set up what fits how you'll work and helps protect what you own — with your tax agent across the tax side.

03

Partnership & shareholder agreements

Going in with a mate or a partner? We coordinate the agreement with your lawyer so the split, the decisions and the exits are clear before real money's involved.

04

Your professional team

Tax agent, lawyer, bookkeeper, insurance broker — we line up the right people, brief them, and manage the hand-offs so you're not googling at 9pm.

05

A plan the bank understands

A simple, realistic business plan — for finance, a franchise, or just knowing your numbers. Not a 40-page document nobody reads.

06

Your numbers, in plain English

What to charge, what it costs to run, and what has to come in each month to stay ahead — set out so it actually makes sense.

07

Your website

A professional site that makes you look established and gets the phone ringing — live before you start.

08

Licences & compliance

From security and estate-agency licensing to GST, super and the rules for your industry — we map what applies, coordinate the applications, and set up simple systems to stay on the right side of it.

How it works

Six steps to day one.

A clear sequence from the first conversation to the day you go live — you always know what's done and what's next.

01

Consult & scope

We map what your business actually needs to launch and agree a fixed scope and proposal — no surprises.

02

Register & structure

Company set up, structure in place, registrations done and industry licences underway.

03

Protect & govern

Partnership and shareholder agreements coordinated with your lawyer, so ownership and decisions are clear.

04

Connect your specialists

The right tax agent, legal and other experts brought in, briefed, and accountable for their part.

05

Plan, budget & build

Your business plan, budgets and website come together into one launch-ready package.

06

Launch

You go live — set up, compliant and ready to trade from day one.

What we do — and don't

We coordinate. We don't replace your licensed professionals.

Day One Formations sets up your company and runs the whole project. For legal advice and documents, and for tax advice, we bring in and work alongside registered practitioners — so the right person is accountable for the right thing, and you get advice you can rely on.

One project manager · the right specialists

Common questions

The honest answers.

Do you provide legal or tax advice?
No. We're not a law firm and we're not registered tax agents. We handle your business setup and project-manage everything, and connect you with appropriately licensed practitioners for legal documents and tax advice — so the right professional is accountable for that work.
I've got an ABN as a sole trader — do I need a company?
Sometimes — it depends on your risk, your growth and who you work for. A company can help protect your personal assets and is often expected for bigger contracts, builders and agencies, but it comes with extra obligations. We explain the difference in plain English, set up whichever fits, and your tax agent confirms the tax side.
Can you sort my industry licence?
We coordinate the licence and registration applications your business needs — like security business licensing or estate agent licensing — alongside the company setup, and bring in a lawyer where an application calls for legal input.
What do you set up yourselves?
Your company registration with ASIC and the associated registrations, your business plan, budgets, website and compliance systems — plus coordinating and briefing every other specialist your business needs.
How is pricing worked out?
Every business needs something different, so we scope your situation and send you a fixed-price proposal up front. You'll know the full cost before we start.
How long does it take?
Most set-ups move quickly once the scope is agreed. Your proposal will include realistic timing for each stage through to launch.
Where are you based?
Melbourne — working with new businesses right across Australia.
